This year’s Run Like the Wind proved to be a very successful event. With such atrocious weather over the last number of weeks, organisers were very apprehensive but conditions
held out. It remained mostly dry but chilly for the 91 runners who took part in the 4k or 8k.
The course was changed from last year and definitely made for better racing! Competitors were delighted not to have to run up the hill at the kennels this year!
Massive thanks to Airtricity SSE who sponsored the race and have continued to sponsor the club for a number of years. Thanks also must go to Mowlam Healthcare and Faherty
Wholesale Oughterard for their support and sponsorship. The race committee would also like to thank all the members, parents and friends who helped out at the race. Without your
support, these events would not be possible.
Andrew Talbot of Clare River Harriers took first place in the 4km race in a time of 17:46, with local lady Niamh Fahey first of the ladies home in a time of 21:46. Joan Candon took the first Corrib AC prize.

GCH continued the winning streak in the ladies race, with Jean O’ Connor running a great race to win in a time of 33:31.
Elaine Walshe running on home turf had a real battle on her hands with Emer O’ Connell of Corrib AC, with one over taking the other at a number of stages in the race. Elaine held off to take 2nd in 35:13 with Emer coming home just behind her in 33:17.Imy Lundon, Athenry
